Abortion 101 and 102Camp Joshua offers a session called Abortion 101 that will teach you the basics of abortion, such as all the different ways and why it is performed. During this session, students can take notes for later use or just relax and take it all in. It is after this presentation that students are energized to find out what they can do to stop abortion in Oregon and beyond! Luckily, we'll give you three more days to find out how!
Politics Anyone?Don't worry, if you don't like politics, you won't fall asleep! During our trip to the Oregon capitol in Salem, we will meet with pro-life legislators and find out the importance of pro-life legislation and how everyone-regardless of if they like politics or not-can help save babies at this critical stage!
"They Say, You Say"The arguments of the pro-abortion movement can seem convincing, but after a fun question and answer time with pro-life experts who know it all, you'll have all the answers you need when addressing your peers and telling them the truth about abortion, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Beyond AbortionThe pro-life movement covers more than just abortion. Life issues range from cutting-edge stem-cell reasearch ethics to assisted suicide (which is legal in Oregon). At Camp Joshua you will learn the basics about all life issues including stem-cell research, cloning, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Pregnancy Resource CentersOne of the most important parts of being pro-life is helping women who feel like they may have no choice but to abort. At Camp Joshua we will travel to Oregon's biggest network of Pregnancy Resource Centers in Portland to find out how they run and how we, as pro-life high school and college students, can help them. We also take a trip to a home that gives pregnant girls and their babies a home and learn about the tremendous resources that are available to help pregnant girls.
"Putting a Face on Abortion"During our time at Camp Joshua we have the privilege of hearing a panel of post-abortive women and men tell their stories. This is definitely the most powerful point of Camp Joshua, as the reality of abortion sets into all of us. You don't want to miss this great opportunity to put a face on abortion.
Oregon Right to Life TourOne day we take all of the campers to the Oregon Right to Life headquarters in Salem where we learn about how an office that is part of National Right to Life operates. We also have special guests come and speak to the campers.
Free Stuff! That's right, you won't leave empty-handed. The Camp Joshua staff will give you the things you need to continue to be effective in pro-life work wherever you may end up! This includes a binder of useful items, stickers and pins. You also have the chance to win prizes in our games and competitions. As a bonus, we will even pay for your registration to attend your choice of the annual Oregon Right to Life conference or the National Right to Life conference so you can continue to meet great pro-life people from all over the country! Need a place to stay while at the conference? OK! We'll pay for lodging too!
Games with ValueCamp Joshua isn't all work, we have a lot of fun too. Think you can take the heat of our Pro-Life Apprentice game show? You better be on your toes or you might hear, "You're fired!"
Have Your Cake and Eat it Too!That's right, it's our annual Cake Decorating contest. In this fun activity, the campers split into teams and decorate their cake, trying to be the most creative. Our distinguished panel of judges give out awards and names for each of the cakes. Afterward, we eat!
LeadershipCamp Joshua is not only a pro-life camp, it's a leadership camp. We are here to make leaders who will be leading the next generation-and we love that they are pro-life! With our intensive leadership training, campers are taught how to be a pro-life advocate in any avocation! We need pro-life mayors, doctors, teachers and lawyers! The leadership training at Camp Joshua will be important and useful for wherever the camper goes in life!
Making FriendsCamp Joshua brings together youth from all different backgrounds and from different places in Oregon for 3 fun-filled days of learning how to be a pro-life leader. But we all have at least one thing in common--we are all pro-life. Camp Joshua has helped me to make many dear friends. I've even been able to visit them often after the camp! |
